The traditional Amazing Thailand Countdown celebrations organized by the Thai tourism authority (TAT) will be held in Bangkok and in four emerging tourism provinces during the last minutes of the departing year.
The festivities, including spectacular fireworks and performances showcasing traditions and legends of Siam, will be held in the following venues:
- Bangkok: IconSiam complex;
- Northern Region: Clock Tower, Chiang Rai province;
- Northeastern Region: Clock Tower, Nakhon Phanom province;
- Central Region: Clock Tower, Ratchaburi province; and
- Southern Region: Pakbara Pier, Satun province.
In the capital, the countdown will begin at 18.00 on 31 December 2018.
The event will be aired live on MCOT, PPTV, True4U, TNN and Thai PBS from 23:05 on 31 December 2018 to 00:20 on 1 January 2019.
Between 29 December and 1 January, the Kingdom is expected to welcome around 520,000 international visitors, generating THB 7.87 billion in revenue.
