Similan islands

Similan Islands are a group of nine islands. The name of the archipelago is derived from the Yawi language and means “nine”. This place is commonly recognized as one of the world’s best dive sites. From afar the islands look like green fur hats rising over the sea and the forests teem with all kinds of exotic birds. Granite boulders, coral reefs, vertical rocks, arcs, caverns and underwater caves used as a night shelter by leopard sharks, nurse sharks, mantas and stingrays – these are the main treasures of the archipelago. Strong underwater currents and significant depth attract sharks, stingrays, mantas, barracudas and tuna which you may easily encounter. However, there are also sites where the sea is calm and shallow and good for novices.
