Marriott’s acquisition of Starwood has resumed and is expected to close mid-year.
Shareholders of the two companies have amended their original agreement, announced in November, and approved the deal.
Both companies are set to integrate the very best of the Starwood Preferred Guest® and Marriott Rewards® loyalty programs to enhance guest experience. The combined power of Marriott International and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, whose brands include Sheraton and the Westin, will create the largest hotel company in the world with 5,500 hotels and resorts in more than 100 countries, strengthenimng their ability to serve guests wherever they travel.
