Skytrax, a UK-based consultancy and aviation rating body, has announced the World’s Best Airlines of 2018 as voted by more than 20 million air travelers from more than 100 countries. The Top 10 air carriers have remained almost the same as in the previous year except for Thai Airways which has climbed one spot up compared to 2017, eclipsing Etihad Airways (UAE), which ranked 15th, seven spots down from 2017. Singapore Airlines received accolades as the world’s best airline, followed by Qatar Airways and All Nippon Airways respectively. In 2018 the world’s 10 best airlines are: Singapore Airlines (in 2017 ranked 2nd)Qatar Airways (in 2017 ranked 1st)ANA All Nippon Airways (in 2017 ranked 3rd)Emirates (in 2017 ranked 4th)EVA Air (in 2017 ranked 6th)Cathay Pacific Airways (in 2017 ranked 5th)Lufthansa (in 2017 ranked 7th)Hainan Airlines (in 2017 ranked 9th)Garuda Indonesia (in 2017 ranked 10th)Thai Airways (in 2017 ranked 11th) Lufthansa was named the best airline in Europe and the only European carrier which made it to the World’s Top Ten. Air Canada was named number one in North America, Avianca – in South America, Qatar Airways – in the Middle East, Ethiopian Airlines – in Africa, Singapore Airlines – in Asia, Hainan Airlines – in China, and Qantas – in Australia/Pacific. Conducted from August 2017 until May 2018 in English, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Russian, the 2018 survey covered 335 airlines from around the world.
