Thailand’s tourism authority (TAT) has launched a new community tourism campaign. “We Love Local” spotlights off-the-beaten-path cities as tourism destinations.
The project focuses on developing ‘green’ tourism in local communities, as this type of holiday is gaining immense popularity among travelers. As part of the campaign, 50 Thai communities have been placed into ten categories based on their characteristics and activities for visitors ranging from gourmet tours to agricultural tourism.
Now, independent travelers and groups alike have the opportunity to learn more about the country’s centuries-old traditions, rich cultural legacy, cuisine, and crafts.
The campaign is expected to generate THB 1 million in revenue for each participating community during the first year.
