A new US$7.4 billion high-speed rail will connect Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang airports with Pattaya’s U-Tapao. One of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the history of Thailand, it is aimed at promoting business and tourism in the region.
The project will have the capacity to carry 147,000 passengers a day during its first year of operation, while travel time between Bangkok and Pattaya will be reduced to 45 minutes. The new airport rail link is set for completion in 2023.
